On November 16-17, 2024, the III final stage of the Ukrainian Student Programming Olympiad took place, which also served as the semifinal of the ICPC World Championship in the Southeastern European region.

This year's semifinal gathered 94 teams from 8 countries, and the competition in Ukraine was held at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Over five hours, teams solved complex algorithmic problems, showcasing their programming skills, teamwork, and efficiency in developing algorithms.

Students of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv particularly excelled. The faculty teams achieved:

  • 1st place – KNU_tilt (Marko Hryshechkin, Tykhon Hryshechkin, Artem Fomiuk)
  • 2nd place – KNU_LateBloomers (Mykhailo Perekopskyi, Andrii Abdulaiev, Diana Kindiakova)
  • 11th place – KNU_Potuzhna_tiaha (Bohdan Ohorodnii, Oleksandr Lykhopud, Oleksandr Berezan, Nikita Shevchenko)

In addition to their outstanding results, the absolute winners from team KNU_tilt received a trophy and valuable prizes.

Congratulations to our students on their achievement and best wishes for success at the upcoming ICPC World Finals in 2025!

Every year, on the fourth Saturday of November, Ukraine honours the memory of the victims of the Holodomor of 1932–1933 and the mass artificial famines of 1921–1923 and 1946–1947. In 2024, the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holodomor falls on 23 November.

This year, we commemorate the victims of the communist genocide for the third time amidst Russia's full-scale genocidal war against Ukraine. The tragic events we are enduring today reaffirm the critical importance of living memory: those who commit crimes against humanity must be condemned by the global community, and the victims must be honoured with dignity.

We urge everyone to observe the Nationwide Moment of Silence on 23 November at 4:00 PM in remembrance of the millions of lives lost to the Holodomor and mass artificial famines. On this day, visit memorial sites dedicated to the victims of the Holodomor in your community. We also ask that, as night falls, you light candles of remembrance on your windowsills—whether at home, in offices, or wherever you may be. Each flame in the window is a symbol of our sorrow, memory, and faith in the future.
