Congratulations to Valeriia Kotelnykova on receiving the ICMU Award for Student
Valeriia Kotelnykova, a graduate of the Master's programme in Applied Mathematics in 2024, has been awarded the ICMU (International Centre for Mathematics in Ukraine) Award for Student Research.
The award was granted for her article, "Small counts in nested Karlin's occupancy scheme generated by discrete Weibull-like distributions," published in the journal Stochastic Processes and their Applications (co-authored with Professor Oleksandr Iksanov).
Victory of Faculty Teams at the Ukrainian Programming Olympiad (ICPC)
On November 16-17, 2024, the III final stage of the Ukrainian Student Programming Olympiad took place, which also served as the semifinal of the ICPC World Championship in the Southeastern European region.
This year's semifinal gathered 94 teams from 8 countries, and the competition in Ukraine was held at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Over five hours, teams solved complex algorithmic problems, showcasing their programming skills, teamwork, and efficiency in developing algorithms.
